Amref Tanzania holds Annual Stakeholders Meeting

Amref Health Africa in Tanzania held the 2017 Annual Stakeholders meeting on 5 July 2017 themed ‘Building Healthier Communities and partnerships’ at Serena Hotel, Dar es Salaam.

The meeting whose aim was to give stakeholders some insight on Amref Health Africa, its achievements, challenges and future expectations, saw several delegates including Amref Health Africa Group CEO Dr Githinji Gitahi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health Tanzania Dr. Mpoki M. Ulisubisya among others attend the event.

Dr. Mpoki explained, “stronger health systems is crucial and that is why Amref is working hard and advocating for it. Let us Join Amref Health Africa  and work together towards their significant vision”.

Also in a attendance was the Chief guest Hon. Mahmooud Kombo, Minister for Health and Social Welfare in Zanzibar who represented Hon. Ummy Mwalimu, Mainland Minister for Health,Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children.

“Amref Health Africa has become one of our integral partners not only in linking communities with health services but also complementing the government’s efforts. Therefore, the fifth phase government under President Hon Dr. John Pombe Magufuli guarantees its support whenever needed to ease stakeholders’ efforts towards improving the Health Sector” Hon. Mahmoud Kombo, Minister of Health and Social Welfare in  Zanzibar said.

During the meeting, Amref Health Africa Stakeholders had an opportunity to comment on Amref’s work across the region and the nation at large. Some of the direct beneficiaries from  the projects include Fistula survivors, STOP Female Genital Cutting (FGM), e-learning programme who spoke about the gains from various interventions led by Amref Health Africa in Tanzania.

Amref Health Africa also recognised and marked 60 years of existence and shared the upcoming new Amref Health Africa Strategy (2018-2022) with the various stakeholders.
