The Borena Zone in Ethiopia’s Oromia region\u00a0frequently faces a range of crises, including\u00a0drought, resource scarcity, and intercommunal
conflicts, which significantly impact pastoral\u00a0communities and their livelihoods.\u00a0Adopting a nexus approach, Amref Health
Africa\u2019s RELIEF \u2013 Resilience, Emergency,\u00a0Lifesaving project integrates humanitarian aid,\u00a0development, and peace-building efforts to
enhance resilience, address immediate\u00a0humanitarian needs, and foster sustainable\u00a0recovery of communities in Borena. By
focusing on long-term solutions, the project\u00a0improves livelihoods, strengthens stability, and\u00a0ensures sustainable improvements in living
conditions.<\/p>\n


Implemented in Ethiopia\u2019s Oromia Region,\u00a0Borena Area (Guchi and Miyo Woredas), the\u00a0project follows a rights-based and
community-centered approach to reduce\u00a0vulnerability and promote long-term\u00a0self-reliance for affected populations.\u00a0The project is implemented through a strong\u00a0partnership between international and local\u00a0organizations. While CESVI ETS Foundation
(CESVI) leads the project implementation,\u00a0Amref Health Africa ETS (Amref Italia) and the\u00a0International Committee for the Development
of Peoples (CISP), both provide technical\u00a0expertise and resources to support the project\u00a0activities. Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia
(Amref Ethiopia) executes on-the-ground\u00a0interventions, ensuring community\u00a0engagement, and coordinating with local
stakeholders.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

  • Water, Hygiene and Sanitation: Established and operational functional water systems, built sanitation facilities, and awareness creation on good hygiene and health practices.<\/li>\n
  • Agriculture and Food Security: The most\u00a0vulnerable households benefit from multi-use\u00a0financial assistance (MPCA) to meet their basic\u00a0needs, ensure access to inputs and technical\u00a0assistance for agricultural production activities.<\/li>\n
  • Health and Nutrition: Build capacity of\u00a0healthcare workers, support health centers\u00a0functioning and provision of essential
    maternal-child health and nutritional services\u00a0and awareness and behavioral change\u00a0campaigns on health, nutritional practices and\u00a0protective risks.<\/li>\n
  • Disaster Risk Reduction: Strengthened\u00a0participatory governance through community\u00a0meetings and SCLR approach, support districts\u00a0to developed and functioning DRR plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
