Strengthening Health Systems for Resilience<\/h3>\n

At Amref Health Africa, we focus on building resilient health systems to effectively address public health threats. We support preparedness, detection, and response efforts to safeguard our communities in the face of challenges. Key achievements include contributing to the development of the International Pandemic Treaty and amendments to the International Health Regulations, 2005, ensuring Kenya\u2019s active role in global health discussions.<\/p>\n

Kenya\u2019s election as the Africa regional representative on Bureau and the vice-chair of the WHO Working Group on Amendments to the International Health Regulations (WGIHR) is a big achievement. Amref supports this role by embedding a Technical Assistant in the Ministry of Health\u2019s Pandemic Preparedness and Response Secretariat. Our assistance was crucial during the WHO\u2019s Intergovernmental Negotiating Body meeting, where Kenya\u2019s position on pandemic preparedness was well-represented.<\/p>\n

We also supported the National Public Health Emergency Operation Center with daily reporting during the El Ni\u00f1o impacts. In the counties of Isiolo and Marsabit, we deployed the One Health initiative to address the health needs of populations displaced by the floods. The One Health approach is a collaborative strategy that integrates human, animal, and environmental health to address global health challenges.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2642″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text]Additionally, Kenya launched the Epuka Uchafu Nyumbani campaign which promotes personal and environmental hygiene while improving access to safe drinking water. The Ministry of Health has entrusted Amref Health Africa in Kenya to host this initiative. This decision reflects the Ministry\u2019s confidence in Amref\u2019s technical expertise and proven ability to deliver impactful health interventions.<\/p>\n

At Amref Health Africa, we understand that strong health systems are the foundation of resilient communities. Working closely with the Ministry of Health and other partners, we strive to ensure that our health systems are prepared for any public health threat. Our work includes not only immediate responses to crises but also long-term strategies to build sustainable health infrastructure.<\/p>\n
