1. <\/strong>The SUPREME Initiative<\/strong><\/p>

The SUPREME (Sustained Uptake of Products for Pre-Eclampsia and Maternal Anemia) initiative aims to bridge the gap between lifesaving products and services and the women who need them most. Led by Amref Health Africa in partnership with Jhpiego, Solthis, and Market Access Africa, and funded by Unitaid, the SUPREME LIFELINES initiative focuses on improving access to high-quality care at the point of service.<\/p>

The project co-designs and tests innovative models of care for pre-eclampsia and maternal anemia in selected regions, targeting pregnant women, particularly those requiring screening, management, and treatment, while prioritizing equitable access for vulnerable and underserved populations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

2. <\/strong>Kwitanda<\/strong><\/p>

The Kwitanda Community Health Project (KCHP), launched in June 2024 with support from JBJ, aims to improve access to and utilization of Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) services.<\/p>

The project is implemented in the communities of Kwitanda and Dziwe in Balaka where it strengthens community-level health service delivery and promotes improved health-seeking behaviors among women and children.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

3. <\/strong>Towards Universal Access to Portable Water<\/strong><\/p>

This project aims to improve health and well-being, promote gender equality, and enhance women\u2019s empowerment through increased access to safe and reliable water sources. With support from the MadeBlue Foundation through Amref Netherlands, the project focuses on:<\/p>

  • Construction and rehabilitation of boreholes in Machinga and Zomba<\/li>
  • Rehabilitation of water systems at health centres<\/li>
  • Training of water point committees<\/li>
  • Community sensitization on hygiene and water management<\/li><\/ul>

    The project contributes to reducing waterborne diseases such as cholera and increasing women\u2019s participation in decision-making related to water resources.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    4. <\/strong>Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC 2.0)<\/strong><\/p>

    The Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC 2.0) project aims to increase women\u2019s access to and uptake of quality family planning services, particularly DMPA-SC. The project adopts a holistic approach that includes:<\/p>

    • Capacity building of service providers through training, mentorship, and supportive supervision<\/li>
    • Community engagement to generate demand for self-care contraceptive methods<\/li>
    • Strengthening commodity security to ensure continuous availability<\/li>
    • Enhancing data systems for timely and accurate decision-making<\/li><\/ul>

      DISC 2.0 is being implemented in Chitipa, Karonga, Kasungu, Nkhotakota, and Salima.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

      5. Ending Child Marriage \u2013Yes I do Alliance: 2016 – 2020<\/strong><\/p>

      The Yes I Do project aims to contribute to a world in which girls can decide if, when and with whom to marry and have children, and is being implemented in TA Liwonde, Machinga district. This aim will be achieved through the five strategic areas which are: community members and gate keepers have changed attitudes and take action to prevent child marriages and teenage pregnancy; adolescent girls and boys are meaningfully engaged to claim their SRH rights; adolescent girls and boys take informed action on their sexual health; girls have alternatives beyond child marriages and teenage pregnancy through education and economic empowerment and policy makers and duty bearers develop and implement laws and policies on child marriages and teenage pregnancy<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

      6. <\/strong>Advancing Quality Public Health Coverage in Malawi through Capacity Building of Community Health Workers <\/strong><\/p>

      In collaboration with Amref Health Africa Deutschland and with funding from the Else Kr\u00f6ner-Fresenius Foundation, this project seeks to improve community health outcomes by increasing access to quality healthcare services. Implemented in Mangochi and Chikwawa, the project focuses on:<\/p>

      • Strengthening the capacity of community health workers<\/li>
      • Improving health worker mobility<\/li>
      • Enhancing integration within the national health system<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

        7. <\/strong>Improving Immunization Access for Women, Children and Adolescents<\/strong><\/p>

        Implemented in collaboration with Amref Health Africa USA and funded by the CF Foundation, this project aims to expand immunization access in hard-to-reach communities.<\/p>

        Key strategies include:<\/p>

        • Scaling up the \u201cReach Every Child\u201d initiative<\/li>
        • Strengthening supervision, evaluation, and adaptive learning<\/li>
        • Building capacity of Ministry of Health staff and community volunteers<\/li>
        • Integrating immunization into routine health systems<\/li>
        • Promoting data-driven decision-making<\/li><\/ul>

          8. <\/strong>WASH and Family Health Outreach Project<\/strong><\/p>

          This project aims to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable communities by increasing equitable access to safe water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) services, and essential family health care. Implemented in Zomba, Balaka, and Chikwawa, the project combines water supply maintenance and integrated outreach clinics to ensure communities receive both preventive and essential health services.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

          9. <\/strong>Collaborative Advocacy Action Plan (CAAP)<\/strong><\/p>

          The Collaborative Advocacy Action Plan (CAAP) initiative aims to strengthen accountability for Women\u2019s, Children\u2019s and Adolescents\u2019 Health (WCAH) through coordinated, multi-partner advocacy efforts.<\/p>

          To support this goal, Amref Health Africa in Malawi facilitated the development of a CAAP that enables partners to jointly advocate for the fulfillment of WCAH commitments made by the Government of Malawi. The CAAP is implemented within the framework of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH) advocacy and accountability approach, which operates through a Multi-Stakeholder Platform (MSP). This platform convenes key actors and constituencies engaged in WCAH-related work to align efforts and enhance impact.<\/p>

          In Malawi, the process began with an inclusive, partner-led scoping and assessment of national WCAH commitments. Based on the findings, stakeholders collaboratively identified priority advocacy actions aimed at improving the quality, financing, and implementation of existing commitments, while also addressing critical gaps through the development of new commitments where necessary.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
