Tunsume Mwaisoloka, a dedicated community health worker stationed in Vywawa ward, Mbozi district, Songwe region, credits the IPC-I project for transforming her outreach efforts. \u201cThe IPC-I project funded by UNICEF through Amref has been instrumental,\u201d Mwaisoloka asserts. Reflecting on challenges before the project\u2019s intervention, she recalls struggles in reaching mothers and ensuring their children received vital vaccinations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBefore the project reached us, I struggled to reach mothers, but after this training in April, I have been able to reach many targets in their areas,\u201d Mwaisoloka explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training, conducted by Amref, equipped health workers like her with the skills to educate hesitant mothers, many of whom lacked essential knowledge about vaccination benefits. \u201cSome mothers lacked education, so we educated them, though some were initially resistant to taking their children for vaccinations,\u201d Mwaisoloka reveals. Despite initial challenges, the training enabled her to build trust and convey the importance of immunization effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, Mwaisoloka expresses optimism about expanding their reach under the support and encouragement of local ward leaders. \u201cWe would like to continue reaching even more, as our ward leaders have also agreed. We are very grateful to Amref, and we hope they continue providing training so our community can benefit even more,\u201d she states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IPC-I project\u2019s impact extends beyond individual health workers like Mwaisoloka, influencing community health outcomes across Songwe region. With ongoing support and training, these efforts are poised to make a lasting difference in improving immunization rates and maternal health awareness.
