{"id":274,"date":"2019-05-09T04:55:23","date_gmt":"2019-05-09T03:55:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amref.org\/ug\/?page_id=274"},"modified":"2019-05-09T05:02:06","modified_gmt":"2019-05-09T04:02:06","slug":"reproductive-maternal-neonatal-child-adolescent-health","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/amref.org\/uganda\/reproductive-maternal-neonatal-child-adolescent-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Maternal &amp; newborn child health (rhites-sw)<\/h2>\n<h3>Improved provision of comprehensive and quality ANC care services<\/h3>\n<p>Site integrated mentorship on FANC improved in <strong>489<\/strong> health facilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>565<\/strong> Health workers from 14 districts in SW &#8211; Uganda trained in different aspects of FANC.<\/p>\n<p>The supported health facilities identified <strong>17,503<\/strong> early pregnancies, helped <strong>32,640<\/strong> women who attended ANC1 before 14 weeks, and <strong>68,598<\/strong> women who attended 4 ANC visits.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Improved quality of services for labor and delivery for mothers and newborn<\/h3>\n<p>Skills labs established in <strong>112<\/strong> health facilities for HW mentorship<\/p>\n<p><strong>171<\/strong> HWs trained on MPDR guidelines, PCPNP and National New born care guidelines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>146<\/strong> supported health facilities have improved reviews of perinatal and maternal death.<\/p>\n<p><strong>419<\/strong> health workers mentored on the SMGL best practices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>280<\/strong> (57%) of the 489 were equipped health facilities are ably meeting standards for BeMONC and CeMONC.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Strengthening Post Natal care services at high volume facilities<\/h3>\n<p>In the 14 districts of South Western Uganda, <strong>2042<\/strong> health workers were mentored on documentation of PNC services<\/p>\n<p><strong>418<\/strong> health facilities supported to streamline PNC services<\/p>\n<p>Using the network of 2250 VHTs, <strong>8,885<\/strong> women were managed through established community referral mechanism to facilities for MNCH services<\/p>\n<p>Through the demand creation messages, <strong>10,582<\/strong> women of reproductive age reached.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Improving quality of Child Health Services<\/h3>\n<p><strong>16<\/strong> district based child mentors trained in high impact Child Health Interventions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>609<\/strong> health workers given post training mentorship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4,309<\/strong> sick children assessed and managed correctly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>162<\/strong> facilities have now established baby corners, <strong>194<\/strong> reporting new born mortality including conduct new-born death audit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>112 clinicians and nurses from 55 health facilities trained<\/h3>\n<p><strong>204<\/strong> health facilities mapped, assessed and strengthened to provide youth friendly services.<\/p>\n<p><strong>124<\/strong> health facilities have been equipped and now have functional youth corners.<\/p>\n<p>So far <strong>1,183<\/strong> youth accessed SRH information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>319<\/strong> active Youth Peers Educators were involved in SRH mobilization of peers to access service delivery at targeted sites.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9,752<\/strong> youth were linked to SRH and support services.<\/p>\n<p><strong>877<\/strong> youth now accessing HIV prevention services (HTS) in target districts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Promoting Safe Delivery and Infection Control Northern Uganda<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Knowledge and practices of health workers from health facilities in targeted vulnerable and underserved communities increased from 35% pre-assessment to 95% posttraining assessment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Through support and funding from Amref flying Doctors Netherlands, Amref Uganda in 2017 implemented interventions that have strengthened the capacity and improved skills of health workers. These led to improved delivery of clean &amp; safe MNCH services at facility levels and improved access to basic sanitation and hygiene practices in communities of Amuru district in Northern Uganda.<\/p>\n<p>Amref trained <strong>24<\/strong> (10 female &amp; 2 male) health workers (midwives, clinical officers, health assistants and nursing officers) from 6 health facilities in infection control and cordcare practices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1777<\/strong> (1106 Female: 671 Male) people from around high volume sites accessed MNCH services during integrated outreaches conducted by trained health workers. Children benefited from immunization, HTC; ANC and GMP.<\/p>\n<p><strong>22<\/strong> (1 male: 21 female) health workers (midwives) were give on the job training and mentorship on current MNCH services focused on; birth preparation plan, danger signs a mother should know during pregnancy that needs emergency care; A practicum was done on how to fill the partograph and neonatal resuscitation<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maternal &amp;
