World population day is an annual event, observed on July 11th<\/sup> every year, it seeks to raise awareness of global population issues. We at Amref recognize the need for better future for all on a healthy planet and this is interrelated with demographic trends including population growth, ageing, migration and urbanization.<\/p>\n

According to 2019 estimates, the population of Uganda<\/a>\u00a0is around 44.27 million, up significantly from 2013\u2019s estimate of 33,640,833. (Worldpopulationreview.com\/countries\/Uganda-population\/)<\/em><\/p>\n

Uganda joined the world to commemorate world population day under the theme \u201cRenewing the Promise, Empowering Uganda\u2019s Youth to drive Socio-Economic Transformation\u201d Amref Health Africa recognizes that youth are the largest population with almost 76% of Ugandans who are below the age of 30 years. We also recognize that every child if taken good care of including feeding they are bound to live longer and\u00a0 be productive youth to the nation.<\/p>\n

We also recognize the importance of a healthy youthful population through our nutrition care project we are contributing to this milestone thought improved nutrition care for children and implementation of Sexual Reproductive Health projects focusing on adolescents and youth in Northern Uganda.<\/p>\n

During the National event\u00a0 held in Adjumani district , we\u00a0 show cased our work including , Our current\u00a0 intervention of nutrition care\u00a0 where we are \u00a0supporting 20, 000 \u00a0host and refugee children \u00a0through the Emergency nutrition care \u00a0school feeding program . In this project we have incorporated the element of food diversity using children as the societal change makers in their community where they are setting up Kitchen gardens or practicing back yard farming of staple foods and vegetables.<\/p>\n

We shared with the public Amref Uganda\u2019s work during the national celebration in Adjumani.<\/p>\n

Project Manager for the Nutrition care project in Adjumani shares our intervention with the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda The Right Hon Edward Sakandi.\u00a0\u00a0 This project is supported with funding from Sternstunden (German)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We also took time to interact with our beneficiaries under the Emergency Nutrition care project in the field it was a joy to see how the schools we support have had an increase in their \u00a0school enrollment,\u00a0 the children are happier , the school fights are no more, and children look forward to school.<\/p>\n

As we work towards realizing a population of productive youth we must ensure their childhood is properly taken care of and nutrition is among the major components of a healthy child thus a healthy productive youth.<\/p>\n
