Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, more women and girls worldwide are at risk of gender-based violence (GBV). Gender-based violence includes physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse, but also economic or educational deprivation. AMREF Health Africa in Uganda organized a youth lead Webinar and\u00a0 Twitter Chat to create awareness on the rise of GBV due to the Coronavirus methodologies like the lockdown, and program positioning as a leading advocate for community-led and community-driven solutions that respect the human rights of girls and women and to drive engagement and talkability on the AMERF Health Africa in \u00a0Uganda social account using advocacy and encouraging our youth and young people to speak up against GBV, These on two online engagements were attended by CSOs, Policy Maker, Health and Human Rights Activities, AMREF Health Africa partners and young people across the world.<\/p>\n

The online storm reached over 629,824 people with a potential impact of 2,554,868. 163 were the contributors, 5,383.11 Followers per contributor with 22 Facebook and 24 Instagram followers during the time of the engagement. During the discussion, participants were using #YouthAgainstGBVUg, #NoMoreViolence, and #EndGBV the hashtag and these activities also involved a GBV video showcase titled \u201cSTAIN\u201d.<\/p>\n
