Michael Muyonga works as a Programme Manager for a four year Integrated Sexual Reproductive Health Programme in 9 high burden districts of Uganda. He is managing a programme team of 30 staffs drawn from four consortium partners where Amref Health Africa serves as the prime.<\/p>\n
Michael is a social sector development specialist with over eighteen years\u2019 experience in strategic communication and community health. He holds a Master\u2019s Degree in Social Sector Planning and Management; Certificate in Project Management for Development Professionals (PMD Pro); Certificate Advances in Health Communication and Advocacy John Hopkins University USA (2003) and a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Social Sciences of Makerere University Kampala.<\/p>\n
Michael has post training experience in the design, implementation and monitoring of community health programmes stretching over 18 years at national and sub-national level at senior management level. Previously he worked as a Director Community Linkages and Demand Generation for USAID RHITES SW<\/strong> where he provided oversight for pioneering and rolling out DREAMS Lite i<\/strong>n South Western of Region of Uganda and other community initiatives. Michael also served as the Ministry of Health DREAMS Coordinator\/Programme Officer<\/strong> where he initiated the national taskforce for DREAMS and provided oversight for the National DREAMS programme for the initial10 districts. He coordinated the review of performance of the different DREAMS private and public sector implementing partners through convening quarterly meetings and supervision during this time. Prior to that he spearheaded several national campaigns which included: the promotion of response for the Uganda Population HIV impact indicator Survey and Uganda Indicator Survey where he served as the Communication and Mobilization lead. He also coordinated a multi- national \u201cProtect the goal<\/strong>\u201d campaign which hosted his excellence the President of Uganda as the champion. He supported the roll-out of the World Bank<\/strong> funded multi-sectoral HIV response as a Ministry of Health SBCC Focal person. Michael is self-driven and has participated in the development of national health guidelines in the area of health promotion and HIV.
