Rahma Hamis — Standing Strong Against Cervical Cancer

Rahma Hamis, a Grade Three pupil from Magogoni B School in
Zanzibar, proudly received the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine
through the SLL Project supported by the Mastercard Foundation.
She shared that learning about the benefits of the vaccine motivated her
to get protected. “I received the HPV vaccine to protect myself from
cervical cancer,” Rahma said. “What encouraged me was learning
that this vaccine keeps us safe from diseases in the future.”
Rahma also used her experience to inspire others. “I told my fellow girls
to be among the first to get vaccinated,” she added. “The HPV vaccine
is safe and helps us stay healthy.”

Through the SLL Project, with support from the Mastercard Foundation,
young girls like Arkhlia, Rahma were empowered with knowledge and
protection taking an important step toward ending cervical cancer in
Zanzibar.
