Wasila Mcha — Inspiring Students to Stay Protected
For Wasila Mcha, a Form Three student at the Mkwajuni Secondary school, getting her TT
vaccine was both a learning experience and a moment of pride.
“I received my TT vaccine, and I was really happy about it,” she said.
“The TT vaccine protected us from Tetanus and other infections that
could affect us later in life, especially when we become mothers. It was
safe and very important for all girls.”

She continued to use her voice to inspire others.
“My message to my fellow students was don’t fear vaccines. Get your
TT shot and protect your health,” she added confidently.

The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine plays a vital role in protecting
girls from infections that can lead to cervical cancer (saratani ya shingo
ya kizazi) later in life. Through the SLL Project supported by the
Mastercard Foundation, schools across Zanzibar helped educate
students and their families about the importance of this life-saving
vaccine.
