Transforming Data into Action for Every Life Stage

At Selem Health Centre in Zanzibar, Shemsa Ramadhani, a dedicated
health provider and data officer, proudly reflects on how digital
innovation has reshaped the way vaccination and immunization data
are tracked and managed. “Before, we used to record vaccination data
on paper,” she recalls. “But through the SLL Project, we now capture
data digitally, even during mobile clinic outreach services.”

This upgraded system equipped with GPS and photo features has
transformed accuracy and transparency in vaccine delivery. “Now, we
can record real-time information for every vaccination given in the
community,” Shemsa explains. “Whether it’s a child receiving routine
immunizations, a student getting adolescent vaccines, or a mother
completing her Tetanus (TT) doses every record is instantly updated
and safely stored.”

Through this improved data management approach, 194 health workers
and community health care workers have been trained in digital data
tools, life-course immunization, and data quality improvement. These
advancements ensure that no one is left behind, and every vaccination
across all age groups is captured accurately.

Thanks to the Mastercard Foundation’s support through the SLL Project,
health workers like Shemsa are using real-time data to strengthen
immunization and vaccination programs protecting children, students,
and mothers across Zanzibar.
