Orphan Mapopa Chirwa is the Human Resources & Administration Manager for Amref Health Africa in Malawi. He graduated from the University of Malawi (Chancellor College) with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources Management in 2010 and a Master of Arts in Human Resources and Industrial Relations in 2016.
Responsible for providing a strategic and professional support to Amref Health Africa in Malawi, Zambia and South Africa, Orphan’s role includes instituting effective human resources programmes and services that will attract, develop, retain and empower effective and productive workforce. His role also extends to providing managerial and technical advice on the implementation of HR initiatives and policies across the program.

Orphan has vast and rich experience in Human Resources & Administration having worked for different organizations at Senior Managerial positions in both private and Non-profit sectors. He has worked as Human Resources & Administration Manager for NGOs such as Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) and Malawi Epidemiology and Intervention Research Unit (MEIRU). In the private Sector, he served as Human Resources Manager for Mwaiwathu Private Hospital Limited before moving on to Britam Insurance Malawi Limited.

In addition to being an Executive Council member of the Employer’s Consultative Association of Malawi, Orphan is also a serving member for the specialized Research and Consultancy Committee of the Institute of People Management Malawi (IPMM), a grouping for all people Managers in Malawi.
