Improving Nutrition of Refugee Children in Uganda
Amref Health Africa in Uganda, with support from Amref Health Africa in Germany and funding from Sternstunden, has started a supplementary school feeding program for refugee children hosted in the Adjumani district of Uganda. The project started following the high influx of refugees from South Sudan into Adjumani district which is currently hosting nearly 225,251 nationals and 215,312 refugees of whom 61% are children. When Aneno Irene Oriech obtained her Uganda Certificate of Education from YY Okot Memorial College in 2005 in Masindi, she dreamt of becoming laboratory technician. The career path that Aneno was to take is a science discipline which required both practical and theoretical training.
The youthful and ambitious Aneno, who is from Eastern Equatorial State, joined Maltesa School of Medical Laboratory Technicians in Rumbek, where she studied her dream course and obtained a certificate in medical laboratory technology in 2009.
