Capacity Building For Human Resources For Health: 300 Community resource persons in the Busoga Region set up for success

To ease mobility for VHTs and other resource persons in Busoga, the Heroes for Gender Transformative action program with support from World Bicycle Relief donated 300 bicycles worth over Shs 380m to Community resource persons in three districts in the Busoga region: Namayingo, Bugiri, and Iganga districts. “We hope that the bicycles will complement government efforts in ensuring that health services are brought nearer to the people,” said Micheal Muyonga, the Program Manager of Heroes For Gender Transformative Action. “These bicycles will not only support them in their health related work, but also in improving their  livelihoods.” he added.

Robert Okello Omach, the Country Manager of  World Bicycle Relief reiterated that “the bicycles can carry loads of over 100kgs  and are unisex.” This allows for transportation of loads like garden produce  for sale. Not only are they to be used for Community Health Work but also  improving livelihoods.

Amref Health Africa in Uganda’s country Manager, Dr. Patrick Kagurusi said “the collaboration is to ensure that we achieve Primary Health Care in Uganda.”
