On 5th, May 2020 AMREF Health Africa in Uganda joined the rest of the world to commemorate the International Day of the Midwife (IDM) under the theme “Celebrate: Demonstrate: Mobilize: Unite.”
For this celebration Amref Health Africa in Uganda partnered with White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) in Uganda to host a Tweet Chat as a way of highlighting the important role midwives play in improving reproductive and maternal health outcomes and most especially, amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic.
During the Tweet Chat, participants celebrated midwives, highlighting some of the challenges they face in delivering quality care to women and newborns and more so amidst COVID-19 Pandemic; highlighting some of the partner efforts for these frontline health workers; sharing solutions and lobbing duty bearers to play their part. The Tweet Chat was joined by health professionals including Midwives, Doctors, and Nurses; Young Health Rights Advocates, Policy Makers, Academicians, and Health Bloggers.
