Persistently high TB prevalence in Nairobi County neighbourhoods, 2015-2022
A 2022 re-survey of nine Nairobi County neighborhoods revealed a persistently high prevalence of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB), with a weighted estimate of 806 per 100,000 people—showing no significant decline since 2015. Among 6,369 participants, 1,582 submitted sputum samples, and 42 tested positive for TB. A systematic review examining government influence on COVID-19 vaccine distribution and handwashing practices in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania found that public health policies and communication strategies significantly impacted uptake. Behavioral and social predictors of COVID-19 vaccine uptake among persons with disabilities in Kenya
A mixed-methods study conducted in Kenya among 792 persons with disabilities (PWDs) across four counties revealed that only 59% were fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with significantly lower rates among individuals with cognitive (34.2%) and self-care (36.6%) impairments.
