Assessing the impact of the journey plus curriculum on sexual and reproductive health and rights and behavioral change among Ugandan youth

The Journeys Plus curriculum, introduced by the Ugandan government and implemented by AMREF Uganda across nine districts, has demonstrated significant impact in empowering youth aged 9–14. Through a phenomenological study involving 360 young people and 80 adults, findings revealed that the curriculum effectively promoted positive behavior change, improved knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights, built vocational skills, strengthened resistance to gender-based violence, and fostered supportive peer relationships. By engaging homes, communities, schools, and health facilities, the program created a holistic environment that supports youth development and well-being.
