Dr. Edwin Kilimba (MD, MPH, and MBA) joined Amref Amref Health Africa in October 2018 as Project Director for Afya Kamilifu, currently he is the Project Director of Afya Thabiti, a CDC/PEPFAR Funded project implementing HIV/Prevention, Care and Treatment services. He worked for over 5 yrs as Public Health Specialist under CDC and then Program Manager under DOD/WRAIR at the US Embassy in Tanzania and also for the Government of Tanzania as District Medical Officer for Kigoma DC for 6 years. Edwin has a strong background in health systems and program development, project management and a robust experience in financial and budgetary oversight. He worked closely with national and sub-national Ministry of Health institutions in development of health policies, guidance and SOPs to improve health sectors in Tanzania and coordinated high-level stakeholders from Tanzania Government, Tanzania Peoples Defense Forces, the US-Government agencies and United Nation agencies such as WHO, UNHCR, RED Cross and UNICEF in the cross border health programs and refugee care.
