Kokono baby crib innovation story: Nambasa Rashida

My name is Nambasa Rashida. I am twenty one years old.  I live with my parents in Kona zone, Kazo Angola parish of Kawempe division. I am a parent to nine month old Imran. I dropped out of school at seventeen years. I learnt about Kokono when I had gone to attend a meeting at our usual meeting grounds. Our women’s leader on the Local council (LC) committee let us know that the Kokono team wanted to address us. They asked us about our way of life and challenges if any. We let them in on challenges such as malaria owing to stagnant water, hygiene related diseases due to poor garbage disposal and inadequate sanitation facilities. They notified us that Kokono would address some of them and went ahead to explain  how.  This team returned in another meeting and gave cribs to several

Because I move with it to our boutique daily, I have been contacted by several pregnant and new mothers, myself inclusive.

The Kokono crib is a great product. It is multipurpose and yet, takes up little space. I use it for his baths, as a lounging space and as a bed. When he is awake, I make him sit and place his toys there. I have been working in my sister’s boutique for the last five months. Whether at work or at home, the crib provides a medium for healthy detachment. As a mom, I have peace knowing that my child won’t wander off messing things up. In its absence, I would have had to carry him or lose time monitoring him. My baby has contracted neither malaria nor diarrhoea. people. I hope to earn a commission from sales to seven customers this month end, Insha Allah.

I find the price commensurate with the benefits. On second thought, it’s probably worth much more because it’s long lasting. It’s very unique and original.

My mother is well pleased with it. She swears that if she was still having children, she was obviously going to get one for herself. She is very protective of babies so she is so relieved that her grandchild has his own space that is hygienic and safe.

I want to thank Amref for being so parent-like. Their grace towards us is so rare even among families with their kin.
