Profiles of distress related to sexual function, psychological distress, and sexual pleasure: A person-centered analysis of early maladaptive schemas and psychological inflexibility.
Sexual distress, reduced sexual pleasure, and psychological distress were associated with early maladaptive schemas and psychological inflexibility, with sexual pleasure particularly important in distinguishing more severely affected individuals. The findings suggest that assessing sexual pleasure and addressing psychological inflexibility and schemas, particularly emotional deprivation, may strengthen interventions for sexual dysfunction.
