Association of information technology ability, workplace social engagement, and successful ageing: Validation of a short measure with three African samples
This study examined the association of workplace social engagement (WSE) and information technology ability (ITA) with successful ageing and validated a brief scale measuring WSE. The interaction of WSE and ITA on successful ageing was also assessed. A cross-sectional design was adopted, and the participants were 1186 older adults living in Kenya (n = 350), Nigeria (n = 260), and Ghana (n = 576). At higher ITA or the use of information technologies, WSE is less strongly associated with successful ageing. WSE is more strongly associated with successful ageing only at moderate ITA.

Climate Change Adaptation for Healthy Ageing
Climate change poses significant challenges to healthy ageing, particularly for older adults who are more vulnerable to extreme weather events such as floods, heatwaves, and hurricanes. While ageing naturally involves a decline in functional ability, healthy ageing emphasizes maintaining well-being and independence in later life. The United Nations’ Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021–2030) initiative aims to support older adults, their families, and communities in achieving this goal. However, the adverse effects of climate change may undermine these efforts, making adaptation essential. This

Estimating Efficiency Levels of County Health Facilities in Kenya Pre and During COVID 19 Period using DEA Methodology
Health efficiency remains high before and after COVID-19. This could be attributed to devolved hospital management system which has brought public financial management services closer to the hospital and increased effectiveness in delivery of services. Similarly, there were also variations on health efficiency with some hospitals recording low and high efficiencies, which can also be attributed to hospital management. Read More >>>

Healthcare providers factors influencing the uptake of WHO modified safe child birth checklist in management of pre-term births among healthcare workers in Migori County, Kenya
The World Health Organization introduced the safe childbirth checklist in 2015 to address high rates of maternal mortality and preterm deliveries. Food insecurity and mobility difficulty in middle-aged and older adults: The importance of bio-psychosocial factors
Food insecurity has been associated with mobility difficulty (MD) in old age. However, there is a scarcity of research on this topic from low- and middle-income countries, while the bio-psychological factors underlying this association are largely unknown. We investigated the food insecurity-MD link in Ghana and explored how sleep, anxiety, loneliness, and physical activity (PA) mediate the association.

Empowering Older Adults to Utilise Neighbourhoods: A Healthy Ageing Perspective
Healthy ageing refers to the dynamic process of acquiring and maintaining functional capabilities that enhance the well-being of older adults. The World Health Organization aims to optimise older adults’ functional capability as they age. However, concurrent shifts, including climate change and extreme temperatures, challenge WHO’s “Decade of Healthy Ageing” agenda for 2030. Consequently, given the global population’s upward trajectory, it is imperative to establish neighbourhoods that facilitate healthy and fulfilling lives for older adults. This chapter delves into empowering older

Effects of climate change awareness on green purchase behaviour, biking, and walking time: moderated mediation by sustainability knowingness
Walking and biking are central to the growing health-sustainability debate for favouring the planet and protecting individuals against disease. Research has shown that environmental knowledge factors such as Climate Change Awareness (CCA) and Sustainability Knowingness (SK) can positively influence pro-environmental behaviours [e.g., Green Purchase Behaviour (GPB)]. However, no study has tested the Read More
