Determinants of antimicrobial resistance practices in Ethiopia: A One Health mixed-methods study
Antimicrobial resistance practices in Ethiopia were influenced more by attitudes and structural barriers than knowledge alone, with financial constraints, non-prescription access, limited diagnostics, weak enforcement, and client pressure hindering appropriate antimicrobial use. Strengthening One Health stewardship therefore requires interventions addressing social norms, affordability, diagnostic access, regulation, and coordination across human and animal health sectors.
