Laboratory performance of antimicrobial susceptibility testing for GLASS pathogens among participants in the EQuAfrica programme, 2021‒2025
The EQuAFRICA project strengthened bacteriology proficiency testing for AMR surveillance across 14 African countries. From 2021–2025, laboratories achieved average scores of 83% for organism identification and 73% for antimicrobial susceptibility testing, with performance improving over time. The findings highlight the importance of sustained EQA programmes in improving laboratory quality and strengthening AMR surveillance and control across Africa.
