Dr. Turyahabwe Stavia

Dr. Turyahabwe Stavia is the Commissioner for Communicable Disease Prevention and Control at the Uganda Ministry of Health, with over 23 years of experience in global health. A seasoned leader, she has dedicated her career to combating diseases such as HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria at both clinical and managerial levels. Her current role involves spearheading national policy development and guiding the strategic direction of Uganda’s immunization, malaria, AIDS, and TB/Leprosy control programs.   Dr. Turyahabwe is a passionate advocate for evidence-based policy, actively bridging the gap between academia and public health practice by initiating research forums and promoting data-driven decision-making. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Mbarara University of Science and Technology, a Master of Public Health from Lund University, Sweden, and is currently pursuing her PhD at the University of Amsterdam’s School of Public Health.
