Professor Elizabeth Ekirapa – Kiracho

Professor. Elizabeth Ekirapa-Kiracho is a Ugandan public health expert specializing in health systems research, maternal health, health financing, and economic evaluation. She holds a PhD in Health Systems Research from Trinity College Dublin, two master’s degrees (Public Health and Health Economics), and a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Makerere University. Currently, a Senior Lecturer at the Makerere University School of Public Health, she coordinates courses, teaches, and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Professor Ekirapa-Kiracho has extensive experience leading health-related research in Uganda, focusing on marginalized populations, including rural women, women with obstetric fistula, adolescents, and women with disabilities. She has served as a principal investigator on multiple maternal and newborn health projects and has contributed significantly to research on improving health service delivery in rural areas.

Her research and consultancy work span a wide array of topics, including maternal health services, safe deliveries, health worker motivation, and universal health care financing. She is a recognized expert in both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques, having led numerous research projects and studies on maternal and newborn care, reproductive health, health systems strengthening, and economic evaluation of health interventions. Professor. Ekirapa-Kiracho also serves as a member of several advisory boards and editorial committees, contributing to policy development and research dissemination at various levels.

Notably, Professor. Ekirapa-Kiracho has won multiple accolades for her work, including Best Oral Presentation at the International Symposium on Community Health Workers in 2017.
