Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Abiy is a Senior Human Resources Business Partner at Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia and is responsible for the overall HR function and plays a key role in developing and driving the People and Culture strategy and aligning them with the organization’s overall mission and objectives.
Abiy Abera has more than nineteen years of senior leadership and human resources management experience in the for-profit and non-profit sectors, that include telecom, training, management consultancy, and government institutions. Abiy Abera has been serving in the ethio telecom owned by government, he was responsible at senior role as Personnel Management, recruitment, talent management role for more than 9 years; he was responsible leading the restructuring of the overall telecom process and leading the reforming process with French Orange telecom and he has been working as Human Resources Manager, Learning & Development Manager and Trainers at different Private and Group Business Manufacturing companies.
Abiy Abera is known for his passion for humanitarian activities and participated in various social activities and commitments on a voluntarism. He served as Rotary International as Assistant Governor for the year 2023/2024 and as Club President, Secretary and PR Director. Abiy holds MA Degree in Educational, Leadership and Management from Addis Ababa University and BA Degree in Business Management from Jimma University and is a certified management consultant (EMI Ethiopia). He is also a founding and board member of the Society of Human Resources Management in Ethiopia (SHRME) and has held senior leadership positions as Board member for two terms.
