Poor urban dwellers are often challenged by multiple effects of poor WASH conditions: lack of access, unaffordability and poor health which contribute to poverty through our biogas integrated WASH services, we work towards circumventing the challenges most urban populations face. With the support from local governments, communities collect and process organic waste, including human feces and generate biogas energy. We support organizing women and youth business groups and train them to manage and use the energy for commercial and daily use, including lighting and cooking. Money that would have been spent on electricity payments is saved and available for use to further improve their businesses and as disposable income. Most of all, our biogas energy intervention drives environmental and economic sustainability as it contributes to the reduction of CO2 emission.
