Communities Maintaining and Managing WASH Systems

Communities Manage, Operate and Maintain WASH Systems

Rural water supply systems are managed by legalized committees called Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Committees (WASHcos). We train and equip water care takers to do minor maintenances. Both WASHco members and water care takers are elected community members of which over 50% of them are women. Through our rural WASH projects, we facilitate fair election of WASHco members and provide practical and skills trainings that empowers and held them accountable for their water supply systems.
