WASH in Health Facilities

WASH in Health Facilities

Most health service recipients acquire new infections when visiting health care facilities due to a lack of adequate WASH, waste management, and environmental cleaning practices within the facilities. To combat this, our interventions supply water to health facilities, ensure sex separated sanitation facilities are available to visitors and staff, provide access to functional hand hygiene facilities at the point of care and near toilets, and that waste is safely segregated into appropriate bins.  Through our WASH interventions in health care facilities, we ensure that health workers intentionally employ appropriate behavioral practices, that the facilities are supporting them, and that infections are not transmitted from the facilities back to communities.
